pssst more short hair jasper wip stuff

Thank you for sending me these! You’re all so kind ;u; I don’t really know how to respond to these but I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate it so much! <3
-sees cute art of female character- Yes! Well done! A+ very cute good job!!
-notices forced thigh gap that makes character’s legs oddly thin at the top and curved at weird angles- you know what? nvm
hmm are you asking if I choose my color palette before I start drawing? Because no I don’t. I should, because the rare times that I have it makes everything a lot easier and the end result is always nice. But I just pick colors as I go.
As for overlays, I used to overuse them a lot because it was the only way I knew how to color. Recently though I’ve barely used any sort of color adjustment layers at all. (with the exception of multiply for shadows) Not because I think it’s a bad way to work, but because I’ve learned what they do and it’s easier now for me to just color that way myself. I feel like it gives me more control that way and the end result is more solid because of it. Now overlays are something I save for little finishing touches at the end of a drawing as a special effect instead of the entire basis of how i work.
I have a society 6 store but there’s nothing on it currently. I’d like to sell prints again in the future but right now it really just feels like more trouble than it’s worth.
I’m currently open for commissions though [x]

“How do you think the male audience of Steven Universe feels? Like all…”
I think that is kind of a stereotype to think that because there are no muscle bound male gems running around that there are no male role models or relatable characters in steven universe. steven, Lars, raynaldo and Greg are all very relatable.
This is true. Any time i see someone complain about the lack of male characters in su they always act like steven is literally the only male character in the whole show. Once I actually tried doing a mental count of recurring characters in the show and I’m sure I was off a bit but the number of male characters vs. female/female coded characters was almost equal.
Wasn’t there a study done that showed that men in a discussion felt like women dominated the conversation if they spoke only 30% of the time? I think about this a lot.
I almost hope this is just text post bait and not entirely serious. I’m just gonna parrot what the crew has said and say that if any boys feel like there aren’t enough male characters in su then they can go watch the Avengers.
How do I think the male audience feels? How do you think female audiences of 95% of all other media feel when the entire main cast is composed of male characters with maybe one decently written female character? It’s not “a shame” that su is more female oriented. It’s absolutely wonderful and i love it. I LOVE IT.
When it comes to gemsonas though, have fun and do what you want. They’re supposed to be you as a gem right? So why wouldn’t they identify as male if you identify as male? The crew has already said that gems are free to identify as they wish (it’s just that in canon Steven is the first to use male pronouns.) No one who would send you hate about it is in the right. (there’s honestly no reason to send hate ever) Also, it’s not true that no one would make a male gemsona, I have seen LOTS, you’re not being left out.
guys, please, PLEASE if you reblog a video that has a lot of flashing lights or colors put some sort of warning in your tags or something for any migraine or seizure prone people who may be following you. it’s like the photosensitive equivalent of a jumpscare. Any sort of heads up is greatly appreciated.
It’s no problem! Lately I’ve been using the gouache brush from this set for sketching. And other than that I don’t use much special. Mostly just photoshop’s default hard round and soft round brushes. (I adjust the settings and turn shape dynamics and transfer on and off as I go)
Also, if your lines aren’t looking clean it might be because you’re working too small. The bigger your file, the cleaner everything will look when it’s scaled down.

wait omg i’m so confused.

it was confirmed that they don’t have ears (but can shapeshift ears for aesthetics or something if they want to)
Oh..well…Good to know.
-goes out of the way to always draw the gems with their hair covering the sides of their faces because I’m still not sure if they have ears or not-
There’s another one for you anon!
I use Photoshop CS5 almost exclusively. In my experience it’s been the easiest to use and understand. I also love how brushes in PS work and how easy they are to adjust and customize. Photoshop is best for digital painting imo. (There’s also a ton of resources available online, like brushes and tutorials, for you to use which is nice)
If you’re into flat colors and nice linework Adobe illustrator is really good. It’s difficult to learn up front but you can create really nice vector work with it (at this point though i rarely use it)
There’s also a lot of free mock adobe programs to choose from though. The only one I have experience with is GIMP. It’s not exactly the same as PS but it does a good job covering the basics and it’s safe.
A lot of artists also use Paint Tool Sai and Manga Studio. I have no experience whatsoever with Manga Studio and I’ve messed around in Sai a little but it just never really clicked for me personally. But they’re worth checking out too.
So there’s a lot of options out there. I hope I helped a little. I am definitely biased though, PS is my comfort zone so keep that in mind. I’m not an expert in all drawing programs. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Have fun with your new tablet!
I don’t mind. She/her and I’m asexual.
UM um yes??!! Okay

Um..no I didn’t. I don’t really enjoy drawing things that involve…me. I’m really not that cool. But uh…idk opals and padparadscha sapphires are my favorite gemstones and maces are cool. tbh tho if I were a gem I’d probably be like Steven or Lapis and not have a weapon weapon. idk what I’d have instead though.
Yeah that’s totally fine. You don’t need any existing artwork. I’ve done commissions before based on photos or written descriptions. I once even someone send me photos of a bunch of bjds. Just remember that the more information you are able to give me (especially visual) the more likely you are to get a drawing that’s what you have in mind.
Hey guys! I’m thinking about opening up a few commission slots for simple character drawings (like this or this) Flat color, full body, single color background for $30 USD? (+$20 for a second character) I’ll draw fanart, fan characters, OCs, whatever. Send me an email at awyaannette@gmail.com if you’re interested! c:
um yes? I guess? I think it’s cute and I don’t dislike it by any means, but it’s not my favorite either. I’m pretty neutral about it tbh
Yes, I’m totally fine with that! :)
For anyone else who’s wondering, I’m okay with people using my art for phone/laptop wallpapers, icons online and tumblr themes w/ credit. (or other general, harmless stuff like that - if you don’t know you’re always welcome to ask)
I don’t like reposts or people using my art as illustrations for their writing or their characters (unless it was commissioned specifically as such) and obviously anything that involves someone making a profit with my art is a no.
My sister is in Italy for school and I’m leaving today to stay with her for two weeks! My laptop is staying behind though and I will probably have little to no wifi access so I will most likely be away from tumblr until I get back. See you later!
Really hope I can get this Lapis draw done tonight/tomorrow morning so I can post the playlist before i leave. (Ò ‸ Ó)
ALSO YES
YES
I have an account on Society6 but i haven’t updated it in almost a year. If anyone wants something specific as a print just tell me what it is and if i still have a large enough file saved to my laptop i’ll post it for you.
I drew some fusions with her not too long ago [x]
I don’t have any finished drawings of just her posted anywhere online. But here is a small doodle I’m okay with sharing!

You’re trying to adjust to drawing on an ipad. Oh precious child. I’m impressed by your determination tbh. From what i understand ipads have absolutely 0 pressure sensitivity (ie drawing lighter gives you lighter, smaller brushstrokes, drawing harder gives you darker, larger brushstrokes) so that’s probably a huge part of why it’s been tough to adjust. I’ve never tried using an ipad to draw but I’ve tried drawing on my phone before and gave up in two days.
Assuming you have access to a computer or laptop, it’s worth the investment to buy a tablet that’s intended to be used for drawing. You don’t have to drop hundreds of dollars, Monoprice actually makes some decent tablets for around $40-$60.
If you need to stick with the ipad though, I’d recommend playing around with the opacity of your brushes in whatever app you’re using. When I’m sketching it feels a lot more natural to me to have my brushes set at 30-45% opacity instead of 100%. That way you can layer your lines more like a pencil. I only ever really use 100% for flat colors. Unfortunately I don’t have any specific websites to point you towards. A lot of my digital knowledge just came from playing around in PS on my own and picking up tips here and there from other artists.
Other than that, it’s just a matter of drawing a lot. I switched to digital art about 3 years ago and it’s only been within the last year that I’ve really felt comfortable with it. Just keep going, you’re doing good!
