How much time a day/week do you generally draw for? Your art is so amazing and the colours and shadows are so perfect and beautiful!

thank you! I try to draw everyday for at least a little while, but depending on my schedule it can be anything from 20 minutes to 8 hours a day. Usually somewhere in between. -shrugs-

How do you pronounce your username? I read it in my head as "Aww Yeah Draws".

It’s just a weird alternate spelling of Aya. It’s pronounced the same way.

Thank you for sending me these! You’re all so kind ;u; I don’t really know how to respond to these but I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate it so much! <3

do you aspire from color pallets in your drawings or do you mainly create nice overlays?

hmm are you asking if I choose my color palette before I start drawing? Because no I don’t. I should, because the rare times that I have it makes everything a lot easier and the end result is always nice. But I just pick colors as I go.

As for overlays, I used to overuse them a lot because it was the only way I knew how to color. Recently though I’ve barely used any sort of color adjustment layers at all. (with the exception of multiply for shadows) Not because I think it’s a bad way to work, but because I’ve learned what they do and it’s easier now for me to just color that way myself. I feel like it gives me more control that way and the end result is more solid because of it. Now overlays are something I save for little finishing touches at the end of a drawing as a special effect instead of the entire basis of how i work.

How do you think the male audience of Steven Universe feels? Like all the gems except Steven are female, and no one would do a gemsona(dunno if i spelled it correctly, its you as a gem) since they are men. It's not that I'm sad or feeling left out, but it's a shame this awesome show's public is more female orientated. Don't get me wrong it's awesome to finally have a cartoon for females, and any male who is not stupid and tries it will love SU. I just wanted to hear your opinion.

I almost hope this is just text post bait and not entirely serious. I’m just gonna parrot what the crew has said and say that if any boys feel like there aren’t enough male characters in su then they can go watch the Avengers.

How do I think the male audience feels? How do you think female audiences of 95% of all other media feel when the entire main cast is composed of male characters with maybe one decently written female character? It’s not “a shame” that su is more female oriented. It’s absolutely wonderful and i love it. I LOVE IT.

When it comes to gemsonas though, have fun and do what you want. They’re supposed to be you as a gem right? So why wouldn’t they identify as male if you identify as male? The crew has already said that gems are free to identify as they wish (it’s just that in canon Steven is the first to use male pronouns.) No one who would send you hate about it is in the right. (there’s honestly no reason to send hate ever) Also, it’s not true that no one would make a male gemsona, I have seen LOTS, you’re not being left out.

hey you've probably gotten this question loads of times and ive looked to see if you've answered it already and I couldnt find anything, but what types of photoshop brushes do you use to sketch? The sketch tools that I'm using always end up too opaque or too odd looking, and never have any semblance of clean line quality. If you dont want to reveal your brushes thats totally ok as well :)

It’s no problem!  Lately I’ve been using the gouache brush from this set for sketching. And other than that I don’t use much special. Mostly just photoshop’s default hard round and soft round brushes. (I adjust the settings and turn shape dynamics and transfer on and off as I go)

Also, if your lines aren’t looking clean it might be because you’re working too small. The bigger your file, the cleaner everything will look when it’s scaled down.

Hi! I had a question for you about drawing programs. I'll be getting my tablet soon in the mail, but I'm not sure what program I should use with it. Do you know any good ones? What would you recommended?

I use Photoshop CS5 almost exclusively. In my experience it’s been the easiest to use and understand. I also love how brushes in PS work and how easy they are to adjust and customize. Photoshop is best for digital painting imo. (There’s also a ton of resources available online, like brushes and tutorials, for you to use which is nice)

If you’re into flat colors and nice linework Adobe illustrator is really good. It’s difficult to learn up front but you can create really nice vector work with it (at this point though i rarely use it)

There’s also a lot of free mock adobe programs to choose from though. The only one I have experience with is GIMP. It’s not exactly the same as PS but it does a good job covering the basics and it’s safe.

A lot of artists also use Paint Tool Sai and Manga Studio. I have no experience whatsoever with Manga Studio and I’ve messed around in Sai a little but it just never really clicked for me personally. But they’re worth checking out too.

So there’s a lot of options out there. I hope I helped a little. I am definitely biased though, PS is my comfort zone so keep that in mind. I’m not an expert in all drawing programs.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Have fun with your new tablet!

what's your pronouns and sexuality, if it's okay to ask? ^^

I don’t mind. She/her and I’m asexual.

.... Could we draw you a gemsona...? I mean... Are you ok with that?
